We’re delighted to announce that Kylie is finally bringing her show to Glastonbury. She’ll play the legendary Sunday afternoon slot on the Pyramid Stage at next year’s Festival. And as Emily Eavis just wrote on Twitter, “We cannot wait”.
Kylie will play the Sunday teatime slot which has previously been graced by artists including Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, ELO, Barry Gibb, Shirley Bassey and Paul Simon.
Writing on Twitter, Kylie said: “I’m so thrilled to announce that I’ll be playing the ‘Legend slot’ on Sunday 30th June at Glastonbury 2019. It will be 14 years since I was originally meant to appear there and so much has happened up to now. I can’t wait to see you all there to share this special show.”
This will be Australian’s first set at Glastonbury. Kylie was due to perform here in 2005, but was forced to pull out for health reasons. However, she does have some experience of the Pyramid Stage having made a memorable guest appearance with Scissor Sisters in 2010.
Diana Ross will play the Pyramid Stage on the Sunday afternoon of Glastonbury 2020.
Following in the footsteps of the likes of Kylie Minogue, Dolly Parton and Dame Shirley Bassey, next year's show will mark the first time Ross has played in the UK since 2008.
After finding fame as the lead singer of Motown Records' best selling outfit the The Supremes ('You Can't Hurry Love', 'Baby Love', 'Stop! In The Name Of Love'), Diana Ross, now 75, went on to become a wildly successful solo artist racking up 75 UK Top 40 singles. Hits such as 'Upside Down' and 'I'm Coming Out' became seminal disco records, firm favourites in the record box of every disco DJ.
On her legends slot, Diana Ross said in a Tweet, 'This is a dream come true. To all the fans across the world, this is my tribute to you. I'm coming to Glastonbury, with love.'
Next year's Glastonbury, the 50th anniversary, will be the biggest to date, with an increased capacity of 210,000. The festival will take place from Wednesday 24th June to Sunday 28th June. Tickets have sold out, but there will be a resale in April 2020 to give those that missed out a final chance to nab a ticket.
